Rising capitalism = Peace
Encouraging a democratic government in Iraq is only the enabling action towards a lasting peace, not the end result. A democratic government will enable a free market economy, which encourages capitalism. In his article Spreading Capitalism Is Good for Peace Doug Bandow explains that while democracy is desirable, it is not usually the leading cause of peace.
